KitchenAid Error Code F2
F2 appearing on your KitchenAid wall oven display? It's flagging a temperature-reading problem.
What F2 Means
KitchenAid wall ovens share much of their electronics with other brands built on the same manufacturing platform, and F2 carries the same general meaning across that family: the control board is either seeing a temperature reading that's too high, or it isn't getting a reliable signal from the sensor at all. Either way, the oven stops heating rather than risk cooking at an unverified temperature.
Likely Causes
- A temperature sensor probe that's calibrated incorrectly or has failed
- The sensor probe making contact with an oven rack or the cavity wall
- A stuck relay on the control board
- Damaged or loose wiring between the sensor and the board
What You Can Check Safely
With the oven fully off and cool to the touch, look at the temperature sensor probe near the back of the cavity and check it isn't bent or resting against a rack or the oven wall — either can cause a false reading. Resetting power at the breaker for about a minute is also a reasonable first step and clears some one-off codes. Beyond that, leave it alone; there's no safe way to test or adjust the sensor circuit or control board yourself.
When to Call a Technician
If F2 returns, or you notice your baking results are inconsistent even when the code isn't showing, stop relying on the oven until it's checked. An oven that can't accurately track temperature is a food-safety concern at lower cooking temperatures, not just an inconvenience, and the sensor or control board will need proper testing.
