Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 7, 2026

These terms govern the relationship between Greater Victoria Appliance Repair ("we," "us," or "our") and the customer named on a repair estimate or booking ("you"). By booking a diagnostic visit or repair with us, you agree to these terms, along with our Refund Policy, Cancellation Policy, and Warranty.

Diagnosis

We diagnose and repair appliances under these terms as long as the appliance is:

  • Located inside your residence.
  • Properly installed and was in proper working order before the problem started.
  • Safely and readily accessible to the technician — not in a crawl space, attic, or another spot the technician can't safely reach.
  • Located in a safe, sanitary environment for the technician to work in.

If a technician determines your appliance doesn't meet these conditions, we may decline the job and let you know why — in that case, you get a full refund of the service call fee under our Refund Policy.

Liability

We try to diagnose and repair problems on the first visit, but that isn't always possible. We're not liable for losses or damages caused by a misdiagnosis or a delay in completing a diagnosis or repair. If a repair doesn't fix the problem, or a replacement part fails, our responsibility is to correct the problem and, if needed, provide another replacement part. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic damages, or for loss or damage to any person or property beyond what applicable law allows. We don't cover defects that are subject to a manufacturer's or distributor's recall or warranty program. Defects that existed before we started work are excluded from what we cover.

If a required part is discontinued or we can't obtain it at a reasonable cost, we're not liable for replacing the appliance itself.

Warranty

We make no representations or warranties on parts and labor beyond what's required by law and what's described on our Warranty page.

What's Not Covered

We don't cover costs — including diagnosis, repair, parts, or adjustment — for problems caused by: commercial or non-residential use of the appliance, design faults that existed before we started work, abuse, tampering, alterations or repairs by anyone other than us, accidental or deliberate damage, theft, freezing conditions, structural damage, fire, flood, or other insurable events, a blown household fuse or breaker, improper sizing or installation of the equipment, or a lack of reasonable maintenance.

Personal Information

We collect the personal information needed to book your appointment, complete the repair, and follow up on any warranty claim. We handle it according to our Privacy Policy — we don't sell it, and we don't use it for marketing emails. We may share it with the technician assigned to your job and with the service providers that run our booking system, only so they can deliver your request to us.

Technician Safety

Our technicians won't enter a residence if they judge it unsafe or unsanitary to do so — for example, because of loose animals, pests, or hazardous conditions — or if the appliance isn't safely accessible. If that happens, we'll let you know and may decline to complete the job.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply in the province.

Entire Agreement

These terms, together with our Refund Policy, Cancellation Policy, Warranty, and Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us for the service booked, and replace any prior discussion on the same subject, whether spoken or written. If anything in those pages conflicts with these Terms & Conditions, these Terms & Conditions govern.

Assignment

We may assign our rights and obligations under these terms without your permission. If you want to assign your side of the agreement to someone else, you'll need our written consent first.

Notice

We may contact you by phone, email, or mail using the details you gave us when booking. If your contact information changes, please let us know.

Force Majeure

We're not responsible for failing to complete a repair, or for any loss to you, if we're prevented from doing so by events outside our reasonable control.
