LG Error Code ER FF
LG refrigerator or freezer flashing ER FF? This points to a freezer sensor problem — here's what's going on and what to check first.
What ER FF Means
ER FF shows up when the control board can't get a valid reading from the freezer's temperature sensor. Without that signal, the board has no way to know how cold the freezer actually is, so it can't regulate the compressor and fan properly, and it throws the code as a warning rather than guessing.
Likely Causes
- Sensor connector has come unplugged or corroded over time
- Wiring running to the sensor is damaged or chewed through
- The freezer sensor itself has failed
- Control board fault causing it to misread a working sensor
What You Can Check Safely
Open the freezer and make sure nothing is packed against the interior vents — overstuffed shelves can block airflow and cause temperature swings that look a lot like a sensor fault. After that, unplug the fridge for about 5 minutes and plug it back in to let the control board reset. Leave the back panel and any internal wiring alone; the freezer sensor sits behind an interior panel that isn't meant to be opened by hand.
When to Call a Technician
If ER FF comes back after the reset, don't keep waiting on it, especially if you've got food that could spoil. The sensor needs to be tested in place and swapped if it's bad, which means getting behind that interior panel — that's a job for one of our technicians, not a DIY fix.
