What bE Means

bE (button error) shows up when the dryer's control panel thinks one of its buttons is being held down continuously, even if nobody's touching it. Since a stuck button could make the dryer behave unpredictably, the control board refuses to start a cycle and flags the code instead.

Likely Causes

• A button on the control panel is physically stuck or has been pressed too hard and jammed
• Spilled liquid or moisture has gotten under the panel and is confusing the button contacts
• Something resting on the panel, like a hamper or laundry item, is pressing a button
• A control board fault is misreading a button press that isn't actually happening

What You Can Check Safely

Clear anything sitting on top of the control panel first. Then press each button one at a time and feel for one that doesn't spring back the way the others do, or that feels sticky or gritty under your finger. Unplug the dryer for about a minute — this forces the control board to fully reset — then plug it back in and try starting a cycle again. Don't remove the control panel housing yourself to look underneath; that's a job that involves the board and wiring behind it.
