Open the door and check the full ring of the door seal for anything trapped — even a small item can prevent the latch from fully engaging. Close the door with a firm, even push and listen for the lock engaging. Unplug the washer for about a minute to reset the control board, then plug it back in and try starting the cycle again. Don't attempt to force the door open if it's locked mid-cycle and won't release; forcing it can damage the latch mechanism further.
